About J.Long

J. Long is a Christian artist whose work incorporates the edgy flair of rock music with a raw yet soulful crooning of a man after God’s own heart. 

Growing up, he was surrounded by musical giants and developed a passion for music at an early age. On any given weekend his grandmother’s house turned into a practice stage for the likes of B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, his Uncle Huey Long of the original Ink Spots and his grandfather, Curtis Long who played electric guitar. 

Long made his own foray into music at the age of 17 when he signed to former basketball player Steve Francis’ label, Isoh Entertainment. Not long after, Long’s career began to take off when he caught the attention of fellow Houston artist, Mike Jones. In 2006 Long released a mixtape with Ice Age Entertainment that included his first hit: “Berry Love”. Encouraged by the single’s success, Long started his own label, JFAM Music in 2009 alongside his brother, K.Bell, and released his debut studio album, Girl Listen. His single “Personal Freak” rose to #4 on the Billboard charts. 

Long’s rapid record sales and unique voice caught the attention of Hip Hop group Pretty Ricky, who was searching for a new singer to join the group. He performed with the group from 2010 to 2012 and briefly joined them for their European tour in April 2015. Following his stint in Pretty Ricky, J. Long took a break to reconnect with God after feeling that he had drifted away from Him during his tenure in the music industry. During that time, Long began to write and produce Gospel music, releasing an album entitled R & B (Redeemed and Blessed) featuring the single, “Jesus I Need You”.  

Ten years later, in 2022, J. Long returned to the studio to record R&B (Redeemed and Blessed) Volume II. That album was released along with Couples Therapy Volume II andJ.A.I.M.E. (Jesus Absolutely Is My Everything) in early 2023. 

J.Long resides in Tennessee with his wife, Cyntoia Brown Long, and is currently gearing up for a tour with his live band to coincide with his newly released album entitled, HOLY CITY.
